After reading the story of Cinderella, you will create a fractured fairy tale. You must pick a fairy tale and change a major theme or idea of the story. By doing this you will be able to create a whole new story. You can change the characters personalities, point of view, and theme of the story. Be sure to use correct grammar, punctuation and spelling, but mainly have fun!!

Be sure to include:

  • Who’s telling the story?
  • Characters personalities
  • Where the story is taking place?
  • Use transition words
  • Make sure the story flows (Introduction, body paragraphs, Conclusion)
  • Include at least one dialogue between characters
  • Use sensory words

Reflection:

I was a little nervous when I first started working on the voice thread, because I hate to hear myself talk, and I really didn’t know what to expect. However, the website was easy to operate and would be a great way for students to tell their stories to their classmates without having to present to the entire class. This also adds a twist onto “regular learning”, students are given an opportunity to work with technology and do thing they normally don’t do.

I also think this would be an awesome idea if you were sick or going to miss a day of school. You could record a lesson and have the substitute play it. I really liked this assignment and will use it in my classroom.
